General Fiasco’s members were friends in college. The group was influenced by jazz. General Fiasco started performing at the local bar Anyplace. The drummerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his aunt's record collection.

General Fiasco were unsure about their music careers with the release of their debut release, and were relieved after their music began climbing the charts ad getting lots of play on the radio. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started.
