About Gary Puckett

Gary Puckett was born in 1942 in Minnesota. He was brought up in Washington’s Yakima. The band was started in California’s San Diego in the year 1967. After forming the band, they were contracted to the Columbia records. They came up with melodious tracks like Woman Woman in 1967. Tracks as This Girl is a Woman Now, Don’t Give In to Him, Over You came in the following years.

Young Girl raised many arguments as it told the story of a man who was making an effort to save himself from being seduced by a young girl having all the beauty of a woman. The track had the symbol of Puckett in its theme and musical arrangement. The track was a great hit and could be heard in radio till the present days.

The group had Gary Mutha Withem on woodwinds and keyboards, Dwight Bement on keyboards and saxophones, Paul Wheatbread on drums and Kerry Chater on electric bass and rhythm guitar along with vocalist Puckett. Jerry Fuller made the lyrics and production of the tracks. The combination of such talented personality made the band great in radio.

The tracks of this band were based mostly on the concept of women authorization. This element was not found earlier in this type of music in this period. Another feature that was remarkable with this band was the spicy lyrics of the tracks. The band members many times performed in uniforms of the Union Army in the Civil War period. The blending of the uniform, music and lyrics gave the band an extraordinary look. They had a great number of followers. The unique sound of Gary fetched six successive gold records. His tracks were also hit on the Billboard Chart. He acted in television programs of thirty networks or more. He played at the White House for Prince Charles and the President. The group split up in 1971. Young Girl was released once again in 1974. It was popular this time too and got silver record.

Gary made many tours in the country as well as on other countries and was out with the album named Gary Pucket Live. He also made a Christmas album named At Christmas. The album is exclusive in his official website. The album is full of melodious tracks on Christmas. In 2001, he brought out album named In Europe. Gary was not very much successful in his solo career. He performs in many concerts till the present day. He wedded Lorrie. Michaela and Syd are his stepdaughters. The whole family dwells at Florida’s Palm Harbour. Though the band disbanded in 1971, their albums are purchased till today.
