Gary Hoey was born in Massachusetts in USA in 1960. He is a renowned lyricist and musician. He had opted out of school to fulfill his dream of becoming a full-time musician. He would perform in clubs and pubs. In his teens he would offer lessons to the students of the Berklee College of Boston. In 1988 when he auditioned for the role of the guitarist in Ozzy Osbourne’s band, he had received encouraging reviews from the man himself. He is especially inclined towards the guitar and has been playing professionally since 1993. He co-founded the band Heavy Bones in 1990 with of vocalist Joel Ellis, Frankie Banali on the drum and bass player Rex Tennyson.

The first album of Gary Hoey was in 1992 which he had released with his band Heavy Bones. The members had disbanded soon after. The following year he recorded his album called Animal Instinct. This album included the major hit Hocus Pocus. This track had secured a position in the Top 5 of the US Billboard. It was also deemed as the most-oft played rock track of the year. His next single, Endless Summer II, had also been a major hit. He had created a niche for himself with his unique style and had transcended from being a struggling musician to a household name with a huge fan following. In the 1996 album called Bug Alley, he had displayed his singing capabilities. He had performed live on over 200 radio stations as his songs were the most requested tracks on radio. He had experimented with new genres like prog-rock, metal, classic rock and blues. The tracks Reaction and Tribal Mania have been the audiences’ hot favorite. He has worked with the label Warner Brother Records and Surfdog. His favorite instrument was the Fender Stratocaster. He had tasted both commercial and critical plaudits. The guitar maestro Dick Dale had named Gary Hoey as the modern guitarist of his choice.

He had collaborated with Peavy Amps to launch the Gary Hoey Signature Amplifier in 2007.
