Garden of Delight’s members met in grade school. The group used to sell their CDs out of their car at the local record store. Garden of Delight began singing at Accountant, a college club. The bassist was heavily influenced by his sibling's love for music.

Garden of Delight was discovered after their single was heard on a local music hour on K92.5. Garden of Delightwere tentative after releasing their debut release, but were more than relieved when they started hearing their music on the radio.
Garden of Delight knew that they could really have a career in music as soon as Jenny Gitlewski started the first fan club for the band in 1976. Starting out in San Diego with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand nation wide in under a year.
