About El Barrio
El Barrio was discovered while putting on a show at at Anyplace, a local club. The group group played festivals, parties, bars, really just about anywhere that would take them.
El Barrio finally knew they made it in 1986, when Amy Weyland started the group’s first fan club. Starting out in Sacramento with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand from coast to coast in under a year.
El Barrio's latest album has taken the band in a new direction, with a more refined sound. The group may have just completed their most current release, but they are already plotting the next move. El Barrio will spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to rest after a long year.
Critics have generally commended El Barrio for their ability to rile up the audience at concerts. Washington, D.C. music critic Chad Rohrs has always praised group’s great vocals. El Barrio’s most current album has received great reviews from notable music critics like Ted Noonan and Thomas Sheffield.
