About The Earl Scruggs
Scruggs was born on 6 January 1924 in Shelby. From the very early stage of his childhood his penchant for music was noticeable. His musical career got its first break through in the year 1975, when he joined the famous band “Blue Grass Boy”. His offbeat music and his unconventional attitude helped him to grab the attention of the critics and the media as well. It was his spontaneous flow of the music, weak beat musical rhyme, nonpareil composition, polish use of language which helped him to garner accolades from several sources. The unconventional phrases and maverick attitude helped him to win the hearts of thousands of audiences who were looking for something new, something absolutely original.
After snapping his relationship with “Blues Grass Boys”, he formed a new band under the name of “Flatt and Scruggs” in the year 1948. In this newly formed band, Scruggs was assisted by the famous guitarist Lester Flatt who also left the band “Blues Grass Boys”. When Flatt left this band, Scruggs started a new band under the title of “The Earl Scruggs Revue” which was formed in the year 1969. This band has enriched the music industry by releasing some famous albums. In the year 1969 the band was honored with the prestigious Grammy Award. His fame began to spread like a wild conflagration and this enormous popularity helped him to win some other prestigious awards for example: National Heritage Fellowship in the year 1989.
Scruggs once again honored with the famous Grammy Award for his outstanding performance in the album “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”. In this album Marty Stuart contributed with mandolin, Leon Russell with organ, Paul Shaffer with piano and Albert Lee with electric guitar. He received the status of stardom in the popular show “Hollywood Walk Of Fame” in the year 2003. His brilliant and nonpareil contribution in every sphere of music industry helped him to grab the honorable “Lifetime Achievement Award” on 50th Annual Grammy Awards in the year 2008. Though out his long musical career, Scruggs has experimented with his musical ventures and this helped him to enhance the attraction of his music which is one of the secrets of his enormous popularity.
