About Del Mccoury

In 1960 he sang many songs in Bluegrass Boys Of Bill Monroe. He joined the group as a laye5r for banjo but also became player of the rhythm guitar. In 1963, he had his first performance with them on Grand Ole Opry. He also worked with Golden State Boys and then and then went to work for creation and cataloguing. In this period he worked as a part-time music player in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.

The two sons of McCoury started working with their father from 1980s. In 1990s basist Mike Brantley and Fiddler Tad Marks joined in the band of McCoury. This group went on trips to many parts of United States. They again came back and settled in Nashville as they started gaining popularity. In 1992 Bass player Mike Bubb and Fiddler Jason Carter teamed with Del and in the following year he turned to be the part of Grand Ole Opry. Del McCoury had a great impact on other bands. Phish who a number of times had performed in the same stage with Dev and have performed on many of his songs had a lasting impact of Dave. Dave had performances with Donna the Buffalo and String Cheese Incident. He had also made recordings with Steve Earle. Mc Coury had worked with versatile talents like Richard Thompson, Tom Petty and The Lovin’ Spoonful. He was present in big festivals like the Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo and High Sierra. He have also performed in television that comprised the shows like The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The organisation of his lovers and devotees is called Del-Heads.

Del Mcoury have recorded a number of songs and have won many awards. To his credit he has bagged 31 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards that comprises of his constant four time receiving of the Entertainer of the Year Award. He also won the IBMA Male Vocalist Of the Year for four times. He was selected in the list of Best Bluegrass Album Grammy Award for his track It's Just The Night in 2004. He won the Grammy for the song The Company We Keep in the previous category of Best Bluegrass Album.
