Davy was born on 30th December 1945 in Manchester, England. In his adolescence his father pinned hopes that he’ll become a jockey but Davy has some other plans in his mind. He was more interested in being in show business and this was evident from the fact that in his teenage he appeared on British TV soap operas, including Coronation Street. But it was Oliver! a musical play in which he played as the Artful Dodger. This play was highly acclaimed and Davy played the role both in London and on Broadway. His performance was so marvelous that he was even nominated for a Tony Award. Seeing the success of play, television soap was made in 1968. This was the beginning of the road of success as then he toured in another musical adaptation of a Charles Dickens classic, Pickwick. This play was also a hit and its tickets were booked well in advance. Being the indispensable part of Oliver, Davy also appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show on the same night that the Beatles made their American TV debut on the show. His career was on full roll and in 1965 he decided to join The Monkees. He was associated with group for nearly five years and sung lead vocals on many of the group's songs, including "I Wanna Be Free" and "Daydream Believer". Departure of show from television also witnessed the disbandment of the group. Then Davy started concentrating on his solo performance and later joined fellow-Monkee Micky Dolenz and songwriters Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart to form a short-lived group.
Recently Davy performed with his former band mates in reunion tours and has appeared in several productions of Oliver! As Fagin. Despite being successful in music and stage he also continued to race horses with some success in his native England, United Kingdom, while residing in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, United States.
Currently he is preparing for another stage show and musical play and if he is scheduled to play in your city then it is wise to get your entry tickets booked well in advance from the closest ticketing vendor.
