David Usher is a British-born rock singer-songwriter, and renowned humanist who was born on 24th April 1966. This British musician lived in Montreal for many years but recently he shifted his base to East Side Village, Manhattan, New York City. Apart from that he was also frontman of the Canadian band Moist; he more recently embarked on a solo career. David was born in Oxford to a Thai Buddhist, artist Samphan Usher and a Jewish Montrealer, Dan Usher. Dan Usher is an economist at Queen's University.

In his childhood he moved to various cities such as Malaysia, New York, California and Thailand and finally they settled in Kingston, Ontario. Therein he attended high school at Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute. After attending his school he got admitted to university in Burnaby, British Columbia at Simon Fraser University.
While studying he joined Moist in 1993 and their 1994 debut release, Silver, went quadruple platinum in Canada. Being the lead singer he shot to stardom with his soulful voice and vaguely exotic good looks. This was just the beginning of his successful period as after releasing their multi-platinum follow-up, Creature, in 1996. This album was too a hit but after its success band went into hibernation. This was the time when David recorded his debut solo album. His solo album was titled “Little Songs” was released in 1998. 1998 was a very eventful year for him as same year he married photographer and actress Sabrina Reeves, with whom he is still living. Now they have a daughter, Coco, who was born on January 12, 2003. After this success he revived his solo career again, releasing the highly successful Morning Orbit in the summer 2001.
This success was carried forward in 2003 when he released another solo album entitled Hallucinations, which matched the amount of major label albums he had recorded with Moist.
