Cut Copy’s members were friends in high school. The band had their friends call into the local radio station to play their tracks. Cut Copy began singing at the local club Core. The guitarist used to listen to radio constantly as a child.

About Cut Copy
Cut Copy met with a local DJ from K98.9 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The groupspent years before being signed as an opening act. The band is now a huge draw wherever they perform.
Cut Copy accepted that they were real working musicians when the group’s first fan club was started by Shirley Brooks in 1977. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Kim Kloiber created a website for the band and a national tour gave the band plenty of exposure.
Cut Copy intends to spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the band members to rest. The group recently completed their latest record, but they are already thinking of their next move. Cut Copy's most current record has been heavily influenced by singers of the '60s.
