The members of C.T.O. met in 1992. The group used to sell their tapes out of their truck on the street. C.T.O. started playing at Dealer, a local dive bar. The drummer wanted to start a group since he was in middle school.

C.T.O. were relieved when their single climbed the charts. They had heard too many stories of bands with record deals going nowhere. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in smaller bars in which they started. C.T.O. was offered a record contract after their single was heard on X92.9. The band members were relieved to have the opportunity to make an album and quit their day jobs that supported them while they worked hard at night to make their dreams happen.
C.T.O. realized that they were real working musicians in 1997, when Lisa Moran started the group’s first fan club. The fan club may have just started out with a few members that followed the band when the played in small clubs, but it quickly grew to thousands after the group released its first album and started touring nationally.
The group may have just completed their most current record, but they are already planning their next move. C.T.O. see this tour as a chance to expose another audience to their music.
Often times, critics commend C.T.O. for their ability to energize the crowd at live shows. New York music critic Kent Klinger has always pointed out group’s songs' sincerity. C.T.O.’s most current project is the group’s best reviewed release yet.
