A band was put together in 1991 in Suffolk, England and the music they were interested in was heavy metal. It was called the cradle of filth. The group featured Dani Filth as the lead singer, John Richard at the bass; Darren White handled drums while strumming the guitar was Paul Ryanandhis brother played the keyboard. The group has been both loved and loathed by music lovers across the globe. The sounds of the band have advanced from black metal to a symphonic melody making use of keyboards generally used in classical music. The theme of their music is greatly influenced by gothic era, horror films and mythology as well.

MTV and Kerrang have covered their shows. And their appearance in festivals like Ozzfest and Download has only added to their popularity among its ardent fans.Their first album with Cacophonous Records was The Principle of Evil Made Flesh in 1994. The album was a smash hit with Dani Filth’s voice and in June 2006 the album was also made a part of the Metal Hammer list of top ten British black metal albums of the last 2 decades.Their second album was released in 1996 called V Empire was like a departing gift to Cacophonous Records as their relations had turned hostile following a series of clashes. Thought to be written off in a hurry, the album was still a big hit with the growing number of fans across Europe and the rest of the continents.
The group saw an expanding fan base with the increasing number of stage shows and public appearances. In 2000, they signed one of the biggest deals in the history of black metal bands with Sony Music. A new compilation of their songs called “Lovecraft & Witch Hearts” was released in 2003 and has rocked music charts all across the globe.
The band’s members have moved in and out frequently but that hasn’t seemed to pose as a roadblock to its success. When the Ryan brothers departed the band to pursue a separate venture called Blood Divine, new talents in form of guitarists Stuart Antsis and Jared Demeter and Damien Gregori also walked in and the album LP Vampires was released. The group also added a choir and orchestra for the 2003’s Damnation and a Day.
While many might call the debate useless, but nonetheless, Cradle of Filth can be called the actual black metal band. Their style might be rather different as the Norwegian black metal but it’s the band’s mischief and humor that puts the group in a total different pedestal.The band has established a name in the industry and is a force to reckon with when it comes to black metal.
