Coldplay returns with a new album and a new tour in 2012. About Coldplay
The official tour begins in 2012 on April 17th at the Rexall Place in the Canadian city of Edmonton. So far only 19 more North American concert dates have been announced in addition to this show. Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion’s next project became A Rush of Blood to the Head. A second number one album, another multiplatinum effort, and another world tour followed. Audiences had already learned to love the lyrics to “Yellow”, “The Scientist”, and “Clocks”. That tour lasted until 2004. A year later, Coldplay dropped X&Y, the third album. Again the band had a number one album, millions in sales, and a couple hit singles, “Speed of Sound” and “Fix You”.
To this point, Coldplay had sold millions of concert tickets and albums. However, they had failed to release a sing that number one in the UK and the U.S. That all changed in 2008. “Viva la Vida” hit number one and went platinum in Australia and the United States. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends reached number one and once again went multiplatinum. Success had become an expectation for the group.
