The group was a huge hit with their first album, Candlebox. The album went on to be certified platinum four times and peak at number seven on the charts. “You”, “Far Behind”, and “Cover Me” were top ten hits on the U.S. mainstream rock charts. The band toured the world, playing before sold out concerts.
Candlebox could not keep the flame burning bright though. The sophomore album only reached certified gold after a promising start at number 11 on the charts and Happy Pills became resigned to a similar fate after the single “It’s Alright” reached number two on the mainstream rock charts.
The decade closed out with a revolving door for drummers and bassists, and eventually Candlebox broke up. In 2006 the group returned with its original lineup and released The Best of Candlebox. A three month tour was scheduled after, but the group could not sustain its steam. Now, with a slightly revamped lineup, the group will release a new album, Into the Sun.
