Boombox began playing together in 1976. The drummer use to listen to musics constantly as a teenager. Boombox began performing at the college club Wall. The group was influenced by Jerry Lee Lewis.

Boombox’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going gold. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller bars in which they began. Boombox met with a local DJ from X100.5 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The band members quit their other jobs to focus on their album.
Boombox's most current album has taken the group in a completely different direction, with a bigger sound. The group has just completed their most current album, and they are already thinking of their next move. Boombox will take a break after this next tour, allowing the group members to pursue other projects.
Often times, critics will commend Boombox for their ability to energize the audience when they perform live. A music critic from Los Angeles, Jeremy Richardson, has always been pleased with band’s effort every show.
