About Atreyu

Atreyu came together sometime between 1998 and 1999. Their original line up has remained the same except for their bassist who was replaced before the recording of their follow-up album. The band's first release was an EP called Visions which garnered them a rather loyal and devoted fan following. This EP was quickly followed by another, Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty which was released in 2001. It was this album and the singles from it, namely "Tulips Are Better" and "Living Each Day Like You're Already Dead" that caught the eye of the executives of an independent recording label called Victory Records. In 2002 the band released their first full length album called Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses. This album is the one that truly established Atreyu as a band that had teeth and soul and were definitely here to stay. More importantly, the album broke the barriers that existed between heavy metal and hard core music. Atreyu's sound is unique even on the metalcore scene and it is this album that helped define that sound and bring it to the forefront.

After touring in Ozzfest with bands like Hatebreed and Slipknot and head-lining their own tour '"Bitter, Broken, Bound and Gagged Tour', Atreyu hit the studios again and released The Curse in 2004. This was tremendous step in the growth of the band as the lyrics dealt with intensely personal issues like isolation, alcoholism and the vengeance of overcoming in the face of adversity. The album was followed up with the Vans Warped Tour and Thick as Thieves Tour. This tour combined with the Taste of Chaos tour as well and the gigs were released on DVD. As of late, Atreyu's music has been featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Underworld: Evolution' and they are also set to release their next album later this year.

Apart from being a very hard working band, Atreyu have often been discussed due to their musical style. They seem to cover a wide genre of musical styles but it is all delivered with a biting metallic edge- whether it is the poignant ballads or the emotional screams that rip through songs, Atreyu have made a mark for themselves with their truly distinct style of music.
