Ace of Base a dance-pop band from Gothenburg, Sweden rocked the world with their music in the 1990s. Right from their debut album to their last one, they have swayed the audience with their simple yet pep music. Made up of vocalists Jenny Berggren and Linn Berggren, and keyboardists Jonas "Joker" Berggren and Ulf "Buddah" Ekberg, the Swedish band Ace of Base became a very popular international act with their maiden album, The Sign itself. Their simple, melodic music became a rage on radio and in the clubs. Their "All That She Wants," "Don't Turn Around," and "The Sign," was at the U.S. Top Ten singles for six weeks. The band has many awards under their belt including a Grammy Nomination.

Before forming the band in 1990, the two sisters Jenny and Linn Berggren sang in local church choirs and their brother Jonas, played synthesizers, and penned songs with Ulf Ekberg in Gothenburg, Sweden. Finally the brother and his friend asked the sisters Jenny and Linn to sing with them, and the four of them began performing at local clubs in the late summer of 1990. After going through many names, they finally decided on Ace of Base, as it was easy to remember. It did not even take a year for the quartet to sign a recording deal with Mega Records. In 1992 the group came out with their first single "Wheel of Fortune." By this time the group had started working with John Ballard, who produced their recordings and composed the bulk of their songs; now and then, Ballard co-wrote with Jonas Berggren. "Wheel of Fortune" became a hit, and it ruled the airwaves across Scandinavia. Metronome, the German-based record label realized the potential, and immediately signed a European distribution deal with the group. "All That She Wants" was the bands maiden single in Europe and it rocked almost all the European countries. The songs were telecast by MTV, this exposure helped the song become a number one hit in ten different countries. In 1993 the band came out with their first European album Happy Nation. The super hit "All That She Wants" was issued in America 1993, and as expected it ruled the airwaves of America too. The same year the band released their maiden American album the Sign. This album was the re-assembled version of Happy Nation, and had four new songs. "All That She Wants," "Don't Turn Around," and "The Sign" got airplays in Top 40, adult contemporary, urban, and, bizarrely, modern rock radio formats. In 1994 Ace of Base was nominated for three Grammy awards including Best New Artist. The band issued their sophomore album The Bridge in 1995. This album too was a big hit but it could not replicate the success of their debut album. After the release of their album the band remained active for almost three years, and at the end of three years they came up with their third album Cruel Summer, which too was not hugely successful. The band is recording a new album, and the tentative time for the release of their album has been declared as Spring 2008.
