Ace Frehley is the man who had gone for the auditions for the lead guitarist position, wearing two different colored shoes- one red and the other orange. While waiting for his turn, he started playing the guitar, Kiss members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons ordered him to stop, and nearly chucked him out, when they noticed his shoes. They were impressed by his sense of style, and gave him a chance to showcase his talent. He was selected as the lead guitarist for Kiss and there was no looking back for him.

When Kiss resolved to start wearing makeup on stage, Frehley became the spaceman because he was enchanted with science fiction and space travel. Apart from playing the guitar, he wrote songs too, he wrote many songs for his bands including "Cold Gin" and "Strange Ways," but never sang. He was not confident to sing so either Gene Simmons or Peter Criss sang the songs he wrote. However he developed enough courage to sing lead vocals on the song "Shock Me", from the album "Love Gun". He not only sang a single solo but also issued a full-length solo album in 1978. His fans loved his voice and the album became a hit. After years of working together Frehley quit Kiss in 1982 because of creative conflicts with Simmons and Stanley. After leaving the band he started his own band, Frehley's Comet, in the mid 1980s. Atlantic/Megaforce Records signed the new band. The band released their self titled maiden album in 1987 which had the hit song "Rock Soldiers." Next the band issued a mini live album Live + 1 in the beginning of 1988. The album had four live tracks plus one studio track. After a few releases all was not well with the band, Howarth quit the band. The remaining members worked for the album Trouble Walkin, but it was released under Frehley's name. The album also had previous Kiss band mate Peter Criss on the percussion. Frehley fell in with his old band mates in 1996 for Kiss' "MTV Unplugged" album. After that within a few months time Frehley rejoined his old band, and the band hit the road for a worldwide reunion tour. The tour went on to become the most successful tour of the year. The band came out with the album "Psycho Circus" in 1998 and in two of the songs he lent his vocals. The band again hit the road to support the album. After two years in 2000, Kiss embarked on their supposed last tour, known as "The Farewell Tour". After the tour Frehley had thought of pursuing a solo career, but Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley declared that Kiss would tour again. Frehley strongly rejected the action and declined to tour with Kiss anymore. As planned Frehley set off to re build his solo career. He is currently busy working on his new album.
