'Young Jeezy' is the stage name of an American rapper whose real name is 'Jen Jenkins'. He is renowned for his unique style of slow southern rap. He has released five full-length studio albums till date and is one of the most promising American rappers on the horizon.

Jen Jenkins was born on October 12, 1977 in Columbia, South Carolina. Soon after his birth, his family shifted to Duncan Block, a neighborhood in Macon, Georgia. Jenkins's childhood involved constant stays with his aunts and grandmothers and occasionally with his separated parents. He had a fairly controversial adolescence, full of notoriety and drug abuse. Jeezy has himself been cited as describing his childhood period as 'empty'.
'Young Jeezy' had always had a passion for rapping. In the early days of his rapping career he used to sport the name 'Lil J'. Under that name, Jenkins came out with his debut album titled 'Thuggin' Under the Influence' in the year 2001. The album featured many other rap artists, such as 'Kinky B', 'Fidank', and 'Lil Jon'. The album helped Jenkins to establish a name for him self in the rap circuit. In the following year, Jeezy released his second album titled 'Come Shop Wit' Me'. This album was a two CD set and featured many other artists, such as 'Bone Crusher', 'Lil Jon', 'Pastor Troy' and Cutty. The album helped 'Jenkins' establish a substantial fan base and sold over fifty thousand copies.
By this time, 'Young Jeezy' had established a firm reputation in the rap circuit although he was still lacking major commercial success. But that too, was soon to change. 'Jenkins' secured a major contract with 'Bad Boy Records' and subsequently joined the 'Boyz n da Hood' group. The group came out with its self-titled album in the year 2005, which peaked at the #5 position on the 'Billboard top 200 albums' chart. Around the same time, 'Young Jeezy' also released a solo album, his first major label album, with 'Def Jam Records'. The album debuted at the #2 position and sold an extraordinary 172,000 copies in its first week itself. The album featured guest appearances from some very renowned artists, such as 'Young Buck', ‘T.I’. 'Trick Daddy', 'Akon', 'Mannie Fresh', 'Lil Scrappy', 'Bun B', 'Lloyd', 'Slick Pulla' and 'Lil Will'. 'Young Jeezy' is strictly against commercialism in music and has always maintained that to have street credibility will always be his first musical priority.
'Young Jeezy' came out with his second major label album titled ' The Inspiration' in the year 2006. This album featured artists, such as 'Project Pat', 'T.I.', 'Keyshia Cole', 'Three 6 Mafia', 'R. Kelly', 'Bloodraw' and 'Slick Pulla'. 'Bloodraw' and 'Slick Pulla' are also members of Jeezy’s rap group USDA. This album re-confirmed the fact that 'Jenkins' status was one of the best in the business. 'The Inspiration's first single 'I Luv It' went on to peak at the #14 position on the 'Billboard Hot 100'. The albums third single is the popular club binger 'Go Getta', which features R. Kelly. Jenkins then undertook the 'I am the Street Dream' tour in the year 2007
In the same year, 'Young Jeezy's group 'UDSA' also released its first album titled 'Cold Summer'. In the year 2008, he has come out with his next album titled 'The Recession'. The album was released on September 2, 2008 and has generated a lot of popularity amongst his massive fan base.
