The original line up of the band comprise of lead guitarist and singer Kaplan, his wife and talented drummer Georgia Hubley. Yo La Tengo was formed in 1984.
In 1985, the band issued their very first single, "The River of Water." To back their single the band also issued a cover of Love's, "A House Is Not A Model." Finally, they completed the line up when they hired the talented bassist Mike Lewis and guitarist Dave Schramm. Then, they issued their debut album, "Ride the Tiger." Unluckily, Schramm and Lewis quit the band so Kaplan had to take up the role of guitarist.
Before releasing their next album, "New Wave Hot Dogs" band added bassist Stephen Wichnewski in their final line up. In 1989, the band issued "President Yo Lo Tengo."
Then they signed up by major label Matador records. Under this label the band issued their next album, "Painful" in 1993. Then, they went through a slump period and came back with "I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One."
In 2000, they issued "Turned Itself Out." In 2002, the band issued their next album, "The Sounds of the Sound of Science." In 2005, the band issued "Prisoners of Love." Catch them performing live, just grab your tickets from an on-line ticket vendor and be there.
