'Years of Fire' was formed in the spring of the year 2005 by guitarist Jason Hager, who had been a part of the popular act 'Chimaira'. The idea behind the formation of the band was to inject a much-required dose of adrenaline and brutality to the sobering metal scene. Years of Fire started of by performing at a lot of gigs and concerts and built up a substantial fan support at the underground level. The bands efforts soon earned its due rewards and it successfully secured a contract with the recording label 'Thorp Records'. With a new contract in hand; 'Years of Fire' continued to consolidate its reputation as one of the most promising metal acts on the horizon. However, the band received a major setback when the recording label filed for bankruptcy, leaving the band at the crossroads. But the band continued to perform at many concerts and gigs.

In the year 2006, the band came out with its debut studio album, titled 'Visceral Departure'. The album comprised of some brutal adrenaline pumping singles that seemed to shout out their statement that metal should be about aggression and attitude and not glamour and fashion. The album was promoted at the bands performances and gigs. The album was a huge success with the bands fan base and also won rave reviews from critics. The band received another major setback with the unforeseen death of vocalist Kent Young in the year 2008. However, the band's endurance and sheer will power to create some great music saw them evolving through this setback as well.

The band's present line up is one that boasts of a huge amount of talent and expertise. Jason Hager is himself one of the most fierce rhythm guitarists of recent times and when his raw style is fused with the straightforward style of lead guitarist Rich Griggs; the resulting music is nothing short of extraordinary. Bassist Ben Hollowell, former bassist of the famous act 'Ringworm', has a steady approach to his music and his high degree of work ethics is clearly evident in his constantly improving musical skills. Scott Dall, the drummer of the band, adds another dimension to this band. Dall is a refreshing change from the hordes of schooled drummers, who end up sounding like drum machines and he provides a different level of power and feeling to the band's music. Vocalist Kris Heming, who joined the band early in the year 2008 exhibits sheer power through his beastly growls, which further adds up to the intensity of the band.

'Years of Fire' is undoubtedly one of the most talented and promising acts seen in the last few years. It has managed to crave out an identity among the hordes of heavy metal acts that come and go every day. The band’s resolve has been tested time and time again and it has always stood up this test. The band will be coming out with another full-length album soon and with it, the band promises to take the world of heavy metal by storm. Heavy metal lovers are eagerly waiting for it.
