Both passionate music lovers, Chase and Karen met each other during their college days. Officially, the band was formed in 2000 by Karen O and Zinner. Later on, they added Chase in the final line up. After writing some soothing numbers, the band-mates got a chance to open for White Stripes and Strokes.
With their unique style and garage rock, band became an instant hit. They issued their debut self title EP on their very own Shifty label. Then, they got an opportunity to tour with "Girls against Boys." During their tours, the band toured Europe with John Spencer Blues Explosion.
Their earlier EP was re-released and distributed by Wichita Recordings in UK. Once again, it was reissued in the US by "Touch and Go." After releasing their next EP, the band embarked on an extensive tour.
