About Yazoo

A member of Yazoo started dating a girl whose sisterwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. The bandwas headlining shows soon after they started playing live. Yazoo were sure that they would make it after signing the record deal. They had heard stories of others still failing, but were sure they would be one of those bands.

Yazoo knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true when Deb Boughton started the first fan club for the group in 1994. After the group’s first North American tour, the fan club grew from the couple dozen fans who heard the band play around Sacramento to the thousands who heard them play across the world.

Members of Yazoo hope this next tour brings in more fans than ever. The band recently completed their most current album, and they are plotting their next move already. Yazoo's new album is the group's first since the group members went to work on independent projects seven years ago.

Generally, critics have commended Yazoo for their ability to connect with the audience during concerts. San Francisco music critic Whitney Storjohann has always mentioned group’s sincere lyrics. Yazoo’s new project has received tremendous praise from all the critics, including George Wolbert from Portland and Scott Avondale from Denver.

San Antonio has always been receptive to the band, even when they were small time, so the band schedules a show there every year, even if they are not touring. Yazoo seamlessly blends the songs from the previous release with tracks from their latest album.
