The members of White Lies met in college. The drummer first found his love of music by listening to his mom's record collection. The guitarist used to annoy his father by playing his favorite record nonstop. White Lies began playing at competitions. The band had their friends call into the local radio station to play their tracks.

White Lies knew they had finally made it when Barbara Ihnen started a fan club for the band in 1994. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Shelbyville, the fan club quickly grew with group’s national tour and the launching of the group’s website by Debbie Dostal.
