About Warren Hill
The musical journey for Warren Hill began very early, when he was just eight years old. Mainly he played for his school band and it was there only that he developed the interest in saxophone. His teachers as well as his parents encouraged him & there faith in him made him a superstar, he is now. One of the five children, his start was marred by the fact that his parents had to look after the interest of each of their five children, but this didn’t deterred Warren from pursuing his interest.
He was heading a local band when he was just in his teens. This showed the interest as well as the dedication he had for music. He made the instrument his total focus following his introduction to jazz during a summer program at the Eastman School in Rochester, New York; influenced by David Sanborn, Warren Hill played each weekend in a local combo while studying physics at the University of Toronto, eventually dropping out to pursue music full time.
A stint at Boston's Berkley College of Music followed, and on Graduation Day 1988 he was given several featured solos; in the audience was producer Russ Titleman, who immediately hired Hill for a session with Chaka Khan. This was the most prestigious moment of his life which he can never forget. Till date he still receives fan mails stating his performance on that Graduation day. People remember him not only as a saxophonist but as a complete artist & this is the greatest reward an artist can receive from his fans.
Kiss under the Moon was Warren Hill's debut LP that appeared in 1991, it was followed by a stint backing Natalie Cole on her Unforgettable tour. Success started to follow him and he gathered fans from all round the globe.
Scoring a NAC chart-topper with 1993's "The Passion Theme" (from the film Body of Evidence), he next issued the album Devotion, returning in 1995 with Truth. Album after album, he received many accolades & awards for his performances as well as for his contribution to music.
