The members of Wango Tango grew up together. The drummer was encouraged to play by his mother. The drummerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his sibling's music collection. Wango Tango began playing at Crook, a local dive bar. The band was influenced by music of the '70s.

Wango Tango realized that they were truly working musicians when the group’s first fan club was started in 1989 by Laura Jean. Starting out in San Diego with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand across the country in under a year.
Wango Tango's new release has taken the band in a completely different direction, going back to basics. The group may have just finished their most current release, but they are already planning their next move. Wango Tango plans to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to rest.
