Walking Bicycles’s members met in 1978. The guitarist was heavily influenced by his aunt's love for music. The guitarist first found his love of music by listening to his father's record collection. Walking Bicycles started singing at the local club Bedding. The group was influenced by Johnny Cash.

A member of Walking Bicycles started dating a girl whose grandmotherwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in smaller bars in which they started.
Walking Bicycles finally realized they made it in 1989, as soon as the group's first fan club was started by Deborah Wolbert. The club started out small, with just a handful of members around Atlanta. After the group’s first national tour the club grew dramatically, reaching a membership in the thousands.
After this past busy year the members of Walking Bicycles will take some time off. The band may have recently finished their new record, but they are planning the next release already.
Often times critics will praise Walking Bicycles for their playfulness with the audience during concerts. Jerry Lordi, a music critic from Denver, has always been a fan of group’s terrific rhythms.
