Vast Basement’s members were friends in high school. The group was influenced by Frank Sinatra. Vast Basement began singing at Instinct, a college dive bar. The bassist was heavily influenced by his aunt's love for music.

Vast Basement's newest record has been heavily influenced by singers of the '60s. The band is in the beginning of the promotional tour for their latest project. After this last hectic year the members of Vast Basement will spend some time apart to rest after a long tour.

Vast Basement were still a little worried after they released their debut album, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. The group played for little to no money at first and was just happy to be given a chance to be heard.
