The members of V98.7 Smoothjazzfest grew up together. The lead singer first found his love of music by listening to his father's music collection. The drummer was heavily influenced by his father's love for music. V98.7 Smoothjazzfest began performing at the local club Terminology. The Mamas and the Papas heavily influenced the early work of the group.
