The self-described flower punk band The Black Lips was formed by a group of teenagers in Atlanta, Georgia, the USA in 2000. It went through the misfortunes and successes as well since its inception. The band was planning a tour in December 2002, and just days before its tour was to begin, one of its core members Ben Eberbaugh was killed in a road accident. It was presumed that this band would disband due to the tragic death of Eberbaugh but rest of its members insisted on continuing it in his memory.

About The The Black Lips
The Black Lips released its full length debut album, Black Lips! on the Bomp! Records in 2003. Jack Hines was recruited to replace Eberbaugh after his tragic end. The new lineup recorded the second album of the band, We Did Not Know The Forest Spirit Made The Flowers Grow. This album was a success with its noticeable presence around the nation. The Black Lips is famous for its crazy live shows and most abnormal antics including vomiting, urinating, nudity, kissing, fireworks etc. Such outrageous stage antics of this group has, though, lessened over the period – the band members claim that it is because of their adaptation of little bit maturity that they avoid their childish antics. Keeping their stage antics aside, this band has been gradually making a name for itself by developing the fan base that always stand by them and keep their energy and style at par encouraging them to play rough mishmash of blues, rock, doo-wop, country and punk.
This band featured in the Spin and Rolling Stone magazines in 2006 that was a crucial attempt for this band to gain national attention. The New York Times gave another exposure to this group by describing it as one of the hardest working bands during the 2007 South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas where it had played dozens of shows in three-days. This band debuted for the Vice Records with its album, Los Valientes Del Mundo Nuevo, released in February 2007. The Black Lips released its most recent album, Good Bad Not Evil in September 2007. Its exposure in the American television began with the Late Night with Conan O'Brien in October 2007.
Boston based The Phoenix newspaper named this band the Best New Band from Georgia in 2008. Its forthcoming attempt is to act in a feature film, Let It Be. This film is about to go to the shooting floor. The group has been planning to record and self-produce the songs for a forthcoming album to be released by the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009.
The band will do an extensive tour in the festivals in Estonia, Finland, Russia, Brazil, India, China and possibly Japan in the current year.
