The members of Staind met in 1995 in Springfield, Massachusetts and immediately became a cover band that played before small crowds in tiny clubs for nearly a year and a half. Struggling to make it and figuring it was time to try a sell tickets for their songs and not covers of Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Korn. The group released a debut album, Tormented, independently in 1996. The album, or the album cover, is responsible for giving them their shot at fame and rock stardom. Staind was opening for Limp Bizkit when the Fred Durst saw the cover, which had art work that was offensive to Durst’s religious tastes at the time. He had the intention of kicking them off the tour, but instead signed them to his label after being impressed with their performance.

About Staind
Staind has gone on to sell millions of albums around the world. Critical response has traditionally been unkind the group, while the fan base has eaten up the albums.
