Slightly Stoopid joined the ranks of chill rock stars like Sublime, Jack The Roots, and Pennywise thanks to Bradley Nowell, the lead singer of Sublime. He heard the band’s front men, Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, performing while they were in high school in 1995.

Nowell immediately signed the band to a record contract. Slightly Stoopid’s rock sound fit the style at Skank Records, as the group played with a variety of influences from rock to reggae to hip hop. They fit the style, but came with a diverse collection of instruments. Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald split time as lead singer, guitarist, and bassist, and the rest of the band included Ryan Moran on drums, Oguer Ocon on congas, percussion, harp, and vocals, DE LA on saxophone, and C-Money on trumpet and keyboard.
Slightly Stoopid quickly recorded a self-titled debut album in 1996 and followed it with the Longest Barrel Ride in 1998. After completing the two albums, the group left the label and released their material under their own label, Stoopid Records.
The group has successfully released five studio albums and two live albums independently and has grown into a major act. They began touring around their Southern California home at first, but eventually brought their music across the country and to Europe, South America, Australia, and Japan.
On major tours they were able to support other great chill rock acts like The Roots, Sublime, Dave Matthews Band, Damien Marley, G. Love, Toots, the Maytals, and Pennywise. The success bridged over to mainstream culture when Slightly Stoopid songs were used on shows like The OC and North Shore and movies like Norbit and She’s the Man.
Now they are considered one of the best live acts in America and are headlining their first amphitheater tour. After playing several music festivals, Slightly Stoopid will start their tour at The Joint in Las Vegas. They will play 24 dates in just over a month before ending it all in the Open Air Theatre in San Diego.
Slightly Stoopid is touring for their new album, Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid. The album features guest turns by Guru of Gang Star, G. Love, and Money Mark.
