Sarah Burgess began playing together while they were in high school. The bassist used to listen to radio constantly as a teenager. The guitarist was encouraged to play by his middle school teacher. Sarah Burgess started performing at Lesion, a local club. Buddy Holly heavily influenced the early work of the group.

Sarah Burgess was discovered after their single was heard on a local music hour on Z94.1. The bandplayed anywhere that would have them in the beginning. After getting the record deal, Sarah Burgess were sure they would make it.
Sarah Burgess realized that they were truly working musicians after Pamela Hornstrom started a fan club for the band in 1984. The band embraced the small fan club and with the launching of the band’s own website by Jess Yeubanks and a well marketed national tour the club quickly grew to a few thousand.
Sarah Burgess will take a break after this next tour, allowing the group members to work on side projects. The band is in the second leg of the tour accompanying for their most current release. Sarah Burgess's most current release took six months to produce.
The group loves playing in San Diego because they have never failed to sell out a how in the city.
