Reggae On the Rocks's members met in school when they found out they were all fans of the Rastafari movement. The lead singer of the band developed a love for reggae after listening to his mother's Bob Marley collection. Reggae On the Rocks began performing at the college bar Anyplace. The band's jam sessions drove the lead singer's parents from their home at first, but eventually the parents learned to live with it and even enjoyed the music.
