The members of Raphael grew up together. The drummer use to listen to records constantly as a teenager. Raphael began performing at Warlock, a college bar. The group used to practice at the guitarist's garage.

Raphael were uneasy after releasing the first single, but were happy when they heard their music on the radio for the first time. The group members quit their other jobs to focus on their record.
Raphael realized they had finally made it in 1996, when Michelle Klinger started the band’s first fan club. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around San Francisco, but the creation the group’s website by Cynthia Treadaway, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
The most current album from Raphael took a few weeks to create. The group is in the beginning of the accompanying tour for their latest project.
Critics have often praised Raphael for their playfulness with the crowd during live performances. Neslon Boughton, a music critic from Portland, has always been enamored with band’s amazing skill on their instruments. Raphael’s newest record has received tremendous reviews from all the critics, including Bob Hemmingway from Detroit and Oliver Greczkowski from Dallas.
