Radio From Downtown started playing in small clubs. The lead singer was influenced by his family's love of music. The guitarist first found his love of music by listening to his grandmother's record collection. Radio From Downtown’s members met in 1983. The Rolling Stones heavily influenced the early work of the group.

Radio From Downtown’s single climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they began. Radio From Downtown was discovered while playing at at Beach, a local dive bar. The groupplayed anywhere that would have them in the beginning.
Radio From Downtown realized that they could really have a career in music after the group’s first fan club was started in 1998 by Brenda Yeubanks. Starting out in St. Louis with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand across the world in under a year.
Radio From Downtown appreciates that they are able to do what they love because of the fans, so they play the hits off their most current release as well as the classics.
