Radiation Year’s members met in middle school. The group used to practice at the bassist's basement. Radiation Year started playing at Humorist, a college bar. The guitarist wanted to start a band since he was in middle school.

Radiation Year plans to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to work on other projects. The band recently finished their latest record, but they are thinking of what is to come next. The most current release from Radiation Year is a refinement of their familiar sound.
After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, Radiation Year knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller clubs in which they started. After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Radiation Year was signed to a record deal. The group played for little to no money at first and was just happy to be given a chance to be heard.
Radiation Year realized that they were truly working musicians as soon as Liz Greczkowski started the first fan club for the group in 1977. The club started out in Raleigh with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
