Phillip Chapman Lesh is better known as the founding member of the hugely popular band Grateful Dead. Phil was the main bass guitarist in the popular band all through their 30-year dazzling career. He had his firm roots in classical and jazz performance. His sensational initial instruments were trumpet and violin. Later he deeply studied music under the great Luciano Berio. After some initial hic ups, Phil joined the reasonably popular band Warlocks and his close friend Jerry Garcia who owned this incredible band. After some thoughts they decided to rename the band and, soon the band was perfectly renamed as "Grateful Dead." Phil amazingly became famous for his scintillating bass playing as much as for his respect and commitment to the band. Phil never got into any superb long term side projects.

About Phil Lesh
In the early 1995, the band suddenly stopped touring after the sudden death of Garcia. This was very heartening news for Lesh; but Lesh got together with the other keen band members. And after some time he consulted Bob Weir and Mickey Hart to form a well formed new band called “Other Ones." The band performed some small gigs and these gigs eventually lead to perfect opening as the band was headlined in the 1998 "Further Festival." In 1998, Phil lesh underwent a serious liver transplant. Then he again hit the headlines in 1999. After some time he released his hugely anticipated solo album "Love Will See You Through" in the incredible same year. This album was a live album and ultimately proved as a tremendous success.
This success proved as an encouraging factor and that led to extensive touring; though this time Phil was not traveling with the band. In 2002, he released his first studio-recorded album. Titled "There and back again," the album proved as a huge success to Phil. Phil Lesh has been continuously touring now. His sensational concerts are frequent sell-outs and tickets are very hard to get by.
