Overkill was discovered after their single was heard on B92.5. The bandyears opening for bands at local festivals. Overkill’s first release rose quickly in the charts, giving them the national recognition they always wanted.
Overkill realized that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act in 1989, when Dorothy Sheffield started the band’s first fan club. The club started out small, with just a handful of members around Jacksonville. After the band’s first national tour the club grew dramatically, reaching a membership in the thousands.
