Opeth is Stockholm based Rock band. It's all started when Guitarists Mikael Akerfeldt and Peter Lindgren came together to create music in 1990, since then the band has given many sensational hits. Opeth has added acoustic instrumentation and progressive influences to their superb brand of Swedish death metal. As the band members went on to create music, they flew in many different musical directions, though not a single track lasted for more than ten minutes. Soon, they invented their own original music and consequently signed up with the Candlelight Records. With this record they issued their full length debut album "Orchid" in 1995. This album featured drummer Andres Nordin and a soothing rhythm section of bassist Johan de Farfalla.

Their second album "Morningrise" was produced by Dan Swano (the mastermind behind the Edge of Sanity) and released in 1996. After this release, the band toured with Morbid Angel. During one of their live performance, they were noticed by Century Media and eventually received an offer, so their next two US albums were released under this label. Soon, they recruited drummer Martin Lopez (ex-Amon Amarth) and bassist Martin Mendez. Band's third record "My Arms, Your Hearse" was issued in 1998 and earned many encouraging reviews and eventually they were acclaimed as a reckoning force in the world of progressive metal with death roots. In 1999, the band release "Still Life" which displayed some new prog rock influences. In the following year, the group played its very first U.S. concerts at the popular Milwaukee Metal fest and earned a tremendous cult following.
Their next album "Blackwater Park" was titled after a not so famous obscure psychedelic prog outfit from the early '70s, and it was issued in early 2001. This released created a huge buzz in the world of music and among progressive metal fans. In the fall of 2002, the band issued "Deliverance." Next year the band surprised their ardent fans with the release of "Damnation" which was focused on acoustic instruments. In 2005, they released "Ghost Reveries."
