Oasis rose during the ‘90s to the height of musical fame in Britain behind a simplistic musical style and a group of band members almost constantly at each others’ throats. Before the tens of millions of albums sold and the highly anticipated tickets of the decade, the group began as The Rain. Then they were a club band playing the Manchester night club circuit going nowhere.

The Rain also did not have a Gallagher brother on the roster. After the Paul McGuigan, Paul Arthurs, and Tony McCarroll decided that their lead singer was not getting the job done they auditioned Liam Gallagher in 1991. He won their approval and the group changed its name to Oasis. Even then, Oasis was far from the form that found its place atop the rock world.
Liam’s brother saw the group play and decided that although he was not impressed with the band; Oasis would be a good place to try out the music he had written as a roadie for Inspiral Carpets. His influence took the band from a collection of musicians without direction to a group with a sudden overflow of songs. Oasis spent the next year developing into the group that could sell tickets and albums world wide.
In 1993, Oasis barged their way into a show before Creation Records co-owner Alan McGee. He signed the band to a record deal four days later. From there Oasis began to ascend behind there number one UK album Definitely Maybe. The group already showed signs of the in-fighting that would outlast the group’s supreme popularity. In 1994 Liam Gallagher, under the influence of meth, verbally attacked the Los Angeles audience and physically attacked his brother with a tambourine.
Noel threatened to quit but was coerced into rejoining the group. Oasis continued to explode onto the scene with (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, breaking into the top 5 on the U.S. charts in 1995. Their star shone brightly as they sold out Knebworth two nights in a row in England, meaning they sold over 375,000 tickets in two days.
The same explosiveness that took Oasis to the top almost ruined the band. After the critical backlash against Be Here Now, Oasis was whittled down to three members, with only the Gallagher brothers as the only two remaining members.
The group adjusted and now sports a lineup of Liam and Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Zak Starkey. Oasis has fought through the readjustment time and seems to be back on track t reclaiming their throne atop Britpop. Oasis tickets are still a hot buy in the UK and they still resonate with fans here in the U.S. Fans still check if the British super group has any tours or odd concerts scheduled over here.
Oasis has released another single, “The Shock Of The Lightning” and has scheduled quick nine-city concert tour in Seattle and Canada.
