About Natasha Bedingfield

After the group disbanded, Bedingfield went to the University of Greenwhich to study psychology. She was always focused on her music and felt the major would improve her song writing.

Within a year she had dropped out and found solace in the basement recording studios of friends. There she created the demos that she eventually felt confident enough about to send to record executives. She found other work through her religious connections from her first group, composing and recording songs for the Hillsong London Church.

In 2003 Bedingfield signed with Sony BMG. That following year in September her first solo album, “Unwritten’, was released. The record included tracks with eclectic collaborations with Steve Kipner, Danielle Briesebois, Patrick Leonard, and D12 rapper Bizarre.

The albums up-tempo pop rock was heavily influenced by R&B music and featured songs with lyrics built around the themes of independence, opportunism, and female empowerment.

The single “Single” reached number three on the UK charts and the album itself debuted at number one. Natasha Bedingfield became recognized in Britain, being nominated for four Brit Awards in 2005.

After the wild success of her first album, she released a number of singles, including “Bruise Easily” and a rendition of “Still Here” that appeared in the film Rocky Balboa.

Bedingfield released her second album, N.B., in 2007, again featuring collaborations with stars like Kipner, Eve, and Adam Levine. The album’s shifted to a more R&B, reggae and electronica influenced sound and a shift in songs that focused on finding love rather than independence.

The album was again a success in Britain despite the critical backlash for the change in style and subject matter, but Natasha Bedingfield also wanted to break into the American market. She joined Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveShow tour in the summer of 2007.

Bedingfield released an American version of “N.B.” entitled “Pocketful of Sunshine” at the beginning of 2008 and has received attention for its hit dance singles. She has alos earned the respect at the Grammy’s, being nominated for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” in 2007.
