The members of M.O.D. grew up together. The group used to practice at the bassist's house. M.O.D. began playing at the local bar Anyplace. The drummer wanted to start a group since he was in middle school.

After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, M.O.D. knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder. The band is mobbed by fans at every show. The years of paying their dues paid off when M.O.D. signed a record deal. The band played for years atlocal festivals making almost no money.
M.O.D. realized they had finally made it after the band’s first fan club was started in 1981 by Kathy Thomalson. While the club started out small after the organizer heard the group play at a small club in San Francisco, the club grew leaps and bounds after the band’s first national tour.
M.O.D. will take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to rest after a long tour. The group has just completed their most current album, and they are thinking of what is next to come.
Critics have often commended M.O.D. for their ability to energize the crowd during live performances. Los Angeles music critic Neal Smith has always praised group’s crisp lyrics. M.O.D.’s new release has received generally positive praise from all the critics, including Andy Ihnen from Charleston and Tim Richardson from Charleston.
