As they reached high school they decided to form their band. While still studying in high school, they collaborated with drummer Nick Gigler and guitarist Jeremiah Rangel to complete the final lineup of the band. Then, on the suggestion of Tony Lavato, the band was named “MEST.” Actually Tony got the idea while he was looking at a simple case of Milwaukee's Best beer. Tony took M from Milwaukee and then combined it with “est” taken from the word best.
After some preparation, the band began performing in small Chicago punk clubs, and eventually released their popular debut album, “Mo' Money, Mo' '40s.”
The band was consistently performing but they still hadn't broken into the major league and didn't have a good record deal. Ultimately, they earned their long awaited big break when Tony Lavato wrote to famous Goldfinger lead singer John Feldmann. Consequently, the letter got a positive response. After listening to their demo tape Feldmann agreed to let MEST open in a few concerts. Then he catapulted them into the major stream, and offered them a record deal with Maverick. With this new label band released “Wasting Time” in July 2000.
The band once again hit the music stores with the release of their swanky album entitled "Destination Unknown" in 2001. The album featured lot of famous guest artists including Save Ferris' Monique Powell and Young MC. The band released their self titled third album in June, 2003. This album also included a superb cameo from famous Good Charlotte's Benji Madden. Then the band embarked on a long stretch of Warped Tour dates. The rigorous tour schedule took its toll on band and especially on Tony Lovato who had to undergo normal back surgery. The band released their fourth album “Photographs” in 2005. They are performing live, just be there to experience their raw music and pulsating sounds, but don't forget to collect your tickets from an on-line ticket vendor to avoid the sad unavailability of the tickets.
