Matt White’s members met in 1983. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in high school. Matt White started playing at Instinct, a local dive bar. Jerry Lee Lewis heavily influenced the early work of the band.

About Matt White
Matt White talked to a DJ from X92.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Matt White was signed. The band's members had horrible jobs when they started playing, just biding time until they would hit the big time. The bandplays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they began.
Matt White knew they had finally made it when the band’s first fan club was started by Ruth Slatter in 1994. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Louisville, the fan club quickly grew with group’s national tour and the launching of the band’s website by Kimberly Fraiser.
Matt White's new record is the group's first album in ten years. The group is in the beginning of the accompanying tour for their most current release. Matt White's members are expecting to bring in a whole new group of fans with this tour and the latest release.
The band has always had a good time in Concord so they make sure to play there every year, even if they are not promoting anything.
