Lonestar

The five-piece band Lonestar honed its country/soft-rock sound in America's bars and clubs for years before releasing their hit 1996 major-label debut. After bass player John Rich left the group for a solo career, Lonestar continued as a quartet, and released a second successful CD. But it was the band's third album LONELY GRILL that made them unlikely superstars.

About Lonestar

In 1993, Lonestar played their first concert at Backstage Pass in Nashville in January of 1993. A booking agent happened to hear the show. Impressed, he added the group to his roster, and the group headed out on the road. Over the next two years, they played nearly 500 shows. In 1994, the group landed a record contract with BNA Records. The following year they released their eponymous debut, which spawned the Top Ten hit "Tequila Talkin'." Crazy Nights followed in 1997, and two years later Lonestar returned with Lonely Grill, which featured the hit "Amazed." Their seasonal effort This Christmas Time followed in fall 2000, and I'm Already There appeared the next spring.

Lonestar is an American country music band consisting of Richie McDonald (lead singer), Michael Britt, Keech Rainwater and Dean Sams. The group began having major country hits in 1995, with the top 10 hit "Tequila Talking." Their first No. 1 hit was "No News," which spent three weeks at the top of Billboard magazine's country singles chart in 1996.

Lonestar's signature song is "Amazed," a ballad which spent eight weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's country chart during the summer of 1999. The song subsequently climbed to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart, the first country song to do so since 1983's "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Other No. 1 hits include "Come Cryin' to Me" (summer 1997); "Smile" and "What About Now" (both 2000); "Tell Her" and "I'm Already There" (2001); "My Front Porch Lookin' In" (2003) and "Mr. Mom" (2004). Other important hits in Lonestar's discography include "Running Away With My Heart" (1996); "Heartbroke Every Day" and "You Walked In" (1997); "Say When" and "Everything's Changed" (1998); "With Me" (2001); "Not a Day Goes By" (2002); "Walking in Memphis" (2003); and "Let's Be Us Again" (2004). Their current single is "Mr. Mom".

During Lonestar's early years, songwriter John Rich was also a member. He left the group and is now part of the country duo Big & Rich.
