Lagwagon began singing at Clerk, a local bar. The lead singer use to listen to records constantly as a kid. The drummer was encouraged to play by his father. Lagwagon’s members were friends in middle school. The Benagls heavily influenced the early work of the band.

got K98.9 to start playing their single and had their friends call in to request the song. A record executive heard it one day and immediately signed the band. Lagwagon’s first album was a dud, but the second finally got some attention.
Lagwagon knew that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act in 1976, when Anna Weyland started the band’s first fan club. The band embraced the small fan club and with the launching of the band’s own website by Barbara Avondale and a well marketed national tour the club quickly grew to a few thousand.
Lagwagon will take some time off after the tour, to allow the band members to pursue individual projects. The group may have recently finished their new album, but they are thinking of what is next to come. Lagwagon's newest release is the group's first release since the band broke up eight years ago.
The group loves playing in Biloxi because they played their first sold out show there.
