The Labor Day Music Fest is one of San Francisco’s best festivals of the summer. In 1982, the tour was started after the city’s residents decide they wanted a huge celebration in the ample city parks. The very inception of Labor Day Music Fest is due to the planning of Phil Casas, who went through countless pages of details to make the tour a reality. It took a few years, but eventually word spread and Labor Day Music Fest received some national attention The tour began to book acts that were known nationally and the tour started to get much press than when it began. Soon the city was blocking off traffic for city blocks on the dates of Labor Day Music Fest.
Now, tickets to Labor Day Music Fest are sold out within the first few days of their release. The tour is popular enough so that the organizers can just about any group to play. The organizers also respect the link to the community and are sure to ask several local bands to play the smaller stages. Labor Day Music Fest’s organizers have been increasing the scope of the original tour these last few years to accommodate the increasingly eclectic taste of its audience.
The tour is once again the biggest of its kind this year. More bands than ever will be there with huge names and great up and coming groups.
