About Kix

They cut their first album called Kixin 1981, and included the hit singles “The Kid”, “Contrary Mary”, “Heartache”, “Atomic Bombs” and “The Itch”. This album also had some of the popular tracts that were performed in concerts like “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” and “Love At First Sight”. Their track “Kix Are For Kids” have been used by two cereal brands called Kix and Trix Rabbit. This album has a lighthearted rock and roll feel. Their next album was called Cool Kids, and the band tasted commercial success with this album. This album was enriched by the inclusion of hit single like “For Shame”, and “Body Talk”.

They released their next album Midnite Dynamite in association with Ratt in 1985. It had a track Midnite Dynamite with hard rock elements and the tracks Cold Shower and Sex with Funk rock elements as well as the hit Bang Bang Balls of Fire. The band had performed at the Sunset Strip and Country Club of Los Angeles. After these tours, the band returned to their studio to concentrate on their new album which went on to be released in 1988 and was called Blow My Fuse. This album was certified as Platinum and became a major hit. The soft ballad called “Don’t Close Your Eyes” ranked at number 11 at the US Billboard. The song was composed with the intention of discouraging people from committing suicide. Later a CD containing the videos of the album songs was released. Kix also performed with Aerosmith.

A dispute with Atlantic records delayed the release of their next three albums. Hot Wire was released in 1991 and contained the hit single “Girl Money”. They went for a tourin 1992 in the following year and ended up recording the album Live at The University Of Maryland that had all their stage performances, which released on 1993. In 1995 their next album Show business was released under the label CMC music. The album bombed and Kix was termed as a disastrous band that failed to live up to the expectations of the audience. This led the band to be dissolved in 1995. This, however, did not bog down Steve Whitman who continued his singing career as the lead vocalist of Funny Money. He is also employed as a music teacher in Musician’s Institute in Baltimore. Whitman, Yaounkins, Forsyth and Chalfant have tried to revive the band and have performed in Pennsylvania together as the band Kix. Kix is supposed to take part in Rocklahoma Festival held this year.
