Kittie is a metal rock band that was formed in Ontario of London in 1996. The band had been formed due to the accidental meeting of Morgan Lander with Fallon Bowman in their Gymnastics class. The band consists of Morgan Lander, Jennifer Arroyo, Tanya Candler, Talena Atfield, Jeff Phillips, Fallon Bowman, Lisa Marx and Trish Doan. Morgan Lander one of the band’s founder members states that they always wanted a deceptive name for their band that would not allow the audience to guess the kind of music they played. Morgan wanted the name Swan on Swan Song but finally zeroed in on Kittie. They wanted a weak name that would be contrary to their strong music. The main intention was to shock the assumptions of the audience.

About Kittie
Soon after the formation of the band Tanya opted to complete her education and this was followed by the exit of Fallon in 2001. They had tasted success with their very first album called Spit and “Brackish” from this album was a chartbuster. In 2000 they joined the band Slipknot on their tour across UK and this brought instant fame the band Kittie. In 2001 they had released their album Oracle which was well accepted by the audience. The next year Talena also deserted the band. 2004 saw the release of their album Until the End. Artemis Records signed a deal with Kittie in 2005 but soon split up due to creative differences. The band added guitarist Tara McLeod and bassist Trish Doan to their list the same year. 2005 witnessed the launch of a clothing brand by Morgan and Mercedes called Poisoned Black clothing. This duo also featured in the documentary A Headbanger’s Journey and Heavy Metal - Louder Than Life.
By mid 2006 Kittie had already announced the launch of their label called Kiss Of The Infamy Records. The name was altered to X Of Infamy later on due to a copyrights violation case. This label had released their new album Funeral For Yesterday in July 2007. The band organized the Funeral For Yesterday Tour and owing to its massive success, extended the tour for another couple of months. This Tour also featured 36 Crazyfists, Walls of Jericho and Dead to Fall. Morgan declared that they would release a DVD of 45 minutes along with this album. In early 2007 the band had also released the album Never Again under the label Rock Ridge Music. In late 2007 Kittie conducted tours in Brazil, Chile, Santiago and Sao Paulo. They posted their live performance videos in YouTube. Morgan had lent her voice to Kataklysm’s track “It Turns To Rust”.
2008 saw the exit Of Trish due to anorexia. She had been suffering from 2007 and waited till the band completed the Funeral For Yesterday Tour. Currently consists of Mercedes Lander, Morgan Lander, Tara McLeod and Ivy Vujic. Ivy’s name is not officially included in the list of band members.
